The Bell Jar

Image
Author : Sylvia Plath Genre : Autobiographical novel Traits : Mental health issues, societal norms, self harm. Language : English  Click here to be redirected to BUY It all started with a queer sultry summer. The Bell jar by Sylvia Plath is a phenomenal depiction of women surviving with mental health issues during the 1950s. The society's perception of a perfect woman and Esther's pursuit to live unapologetically like a human was something that made the book even more riveting. Sadly enough a bigger battle was awaiting her- her constant dispute with her inner world. Her alacrity to become everything, her ambitions, her desires were  all threatened by her interrogative and unstable, yet a beautiful mind.  I connected with the character of Esther a lot of times while reading the book and trust me, there were times when I was Esther and at times she was my friend. The plot is exceedingly depressing and can be triggering enough for someone who has already been dealing with se...

Author - Daniel G. Miller Genre - Psychological thriller (crime)  Traits - YA, suspense, mystery, unexpected plot twists, self doubts, secrets  Language - English  Click here to be redirected to BUY  This book is a recent book that was published February 2024. I loved how the author made Hazel's problems sound real and how he didn't make the investigation so easy. Apart from the investigation, the book also shows us how Hazel struggles with self doubts but also steadfastly. To me, Hazel isn't really a likable character, but I like her determination towards the case. Because as someone who also struggles with self doubt, I can relate. like she thinks she can't do it but does it anyway and see how things go. Hazel is a 30-year-old private investigator. Struggling to keep her business, she is sure that all hope is lost but when Madeline a wealthy woman offers her the case of Mia a missing girl from the orphanage.
