When a 19 year old huntress (Feyre) kills a mighty wolf in the forest, a dangerous mystical beast comes to take her life in vengeance. Instead of killing her, she has been captured and taken to a fantastical land called Prythian, leaving her mortal family behind. Once she arrives in Prythian, she realises that her captor is not a beast at all and is a fae High Lord (Tamlin) with mystical powers. Slowly the animosity between Feyre and Tamlin dissolves to result in a dreamy romance. But all is not well in the land of Prythian, a dark presence lurks and Feyre has to save Tamlin and the world of Prythian. 

The book does give the vibe of the Beauty and the Beast retelling. It contains amazing world building and a great plot. The mystical world is detailed with beautiful descriptions, breathtaking characters and dreamy romance. The book is a slow read at first with all the world building but it picks up pace and sets the tone for the rest of the books in the series.
