Birdman by MO Hayder's story takes a drift with the cop/detective DI Jack Caffery, who has found brutally and ritualistically murdered 5 female corpses. A crime scene that sends a chill down the spine, corpses full of heavy makeup 💄, the same hair colour, keratinized anus, heavily drugged, breast reduction procedure, blue stitches on the corpses, the shocking fact is killer or mutilator sewn fist size bird next to the heart, seems killer or mutilator is Necrophiliac.
The forensic reports, research, enquiries, crime scene and proof led DI Caffery to the theory: one is a killer and Birdman is a mutilator
Later, the killer died, but the mutilator was still working.
The laconic review for this book is psychologically deep, insanely dark, terrific, compelling and unforgettable.
MO Hayder is adroit at telling dark and twisted stories, you can feel she casts a spell over her reader. Go for it if you can stomach so much at once.
