"Arms and The Man" by George Bernard Shaw is a classic drama that explores the themes of war and love.
The drama begins in the room of Raina Petkoff - the daughter of a rich Bulgarian family and the fiance of Major Sergius Saranoff. We find that a fleeing Swiss soldier Captain Bluntschli break into Raina's room to find refuge. Shocked and scared Raina helps him with the help of her mother. Later Raina got to know how her fiance is an unskilled soldier and is driven by luck, through her conversation with Bluntschli. She also got to discover Bluntschli's fondness for chocolates and that is why she named him Chocolate Cream Soldier.

Later, we find that Raina becomes fond of her Chocolate Cream Soldier and eventually falls in love with him. On the other hand, Sergius's fondness for Louka who happens to be a maid of the house, can be seen too.

Therefore, the complexity of the characters, the ideal of war and love, division of social classes are clearly explained in this drama. Even though Shaw did not glorify the ideal of warfare but he used that very ideal to show romantic elements.

The middle scenes are filled with comic elements and the ending is good.
