This book is beautifully written describing the love , culture , food , politics, family dynamics , past everything combined perfectly.

The story follows the love story of Roya and Bahman , circumstances leading to their separation. This book shifts from present to past , fate being the central point. Sometimes only Love is not enough to keep two people together.

I loved how the family dynamics is explored in this book , how Bahman always respected and protected Roya. I have something nice to say about each and every character starting from Roya’s father who always supported Roya and never forced her to do something that she didn’t want , Zari was a beautiful character who on the outside seems like a careless sister but when time comes she becomes the support system for her sister , Mr Fakhri who was the sole reason the love story of Bahman and Roya progressed , Bahman who always loved and cared not only for Roya but his mother too , he never fed up with his mother’s behaviour always stayed by her side , Bahman’s father who despite knowing some secrets chose to stay by his wife and never blamed her for their situation , Walter who at the most dark times never left Roya’s side.

Although I still think about how The whole truth, Mr Fakhri‘s truth will not be known to anyone. I liked the fact that Roya and Bahman got closure otherwise they wouldn’t even have known what transpired in the ending of their love story. The love story of Roya and Bahman was beautiful but I couldn’t help but notice how much Walter loved Roya, never left her side till the very end.

It gives Khaled hosseini’s writings vibes .

Downsides: the predictable ending was one easy guess given love stories and trust. Miscommunication was to blame, but they easily accepted their fate.

My rating: 8.6/10
