"Before The Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is a Japanese fiction which tells us stories about love , friendship, family and trust. This book consists of four different stories through four different chapters - The Lovers, Husband and Wife , The Sisters and Mother and Child.
In a small black alley in Tokyo , there is a small cafe with a very few customer. Rumors says, this cafe can transport anyone to the past. But there's more than one condition - 1. You can not change the present by changing the past. 2 . You can not visit people who never visited this very cafe . 3. You have to sit on a particular table which can transport you to past . But in order to sit on the table you have to wait until a lady in a dress, who is basically a spirit, goes to the toilet once in a day. But the problem is, there is no particular time for the lady to visit the toilet. And if you try to sit on the table forcefully , you'll get cursed. 4. Once you sit on the table , you can not leave it when you get transported. 5 . Most importantly, you have to drink the coffee before it gets cold, otherwise, you'll end up being a spirit.
With this interesting plot and storyline, this book is filled with emotions, longings and most importantly curiosity. The plot is amazing, and the emotions felt here are truly rich. Four stories bear four different situations, but their destiny is almost the same - they took the risk for their loved ones. This beautiful book makes us realize how important human relations are and how much we should treasure our beloved people. This book is perfect for anyone who is trying to hop into Japanese literatures. Also, this book is only of 215 pages so it will be easier for some people to read a short novel with great storyline.
